Left Cartagena on August 9th for Ibiza!Left Cartagena on August 9th for Ibiza!

Having a nice breeze and big rolling waves until midnight! After that it was no wind at all and we motored for 8 hours! Having wind again for nearly the rest of the way! The last 2 hours we had to use the engines again! We arrived in Ibiza at 3 pm. Found a very nice anchorage! After some difficulties anchoring ( after we realized our chain counter is totally off) we did fine! Martin dived to check the anchor and was totally down after he came back. Our anchor chain was wrapped around a rock and the anchor was jammed between two rocks. He was afraid we will not get it out. So we had to start the whole procedure again. Martin steered the boat so perfectly over the anchor, that I was able to get it up without a problem. Now we had to find a new spot and set it again. This went without any problems. Pheeeeeeewwwwww!

First thing we did was jump in the water and cooled down. This felt really good. After that we did a little dinghy tour to explore the area.

Not much to see during the trip. We had a really nice sunset! Having no internet connection, will post pictures soon.

30 hour sail with variable to excellent winds. One Thunderstorm at night which we detoured around its southern rim.

Anchoring for the first time was troublesome related to issues with the windlass. We abandoned the maneuver and sorted out the technical trouble. About our second attempt we have this beautiful doodle Lunara generated on the chartplotter – see photo. Diving to the anchor showed it wedged in a rock crevesse in 5meters with the chain wrapped around a bolder 🙁

We were lucky to get our gear up in one piece. Finally, 3 hours later, we got the anchor down properly and relaxed withsome bubbly drink.

This morning we woke up to a sizable thunderstorm front moving through the anchorage.

We plan to stay here for the next two days and relax.

Cruise ShipsCruise Ships

Every second day a cruise ship docks very early in the morning. The city fills up with 1000s of cruisers shopping in downtown Cartagena. On those days we see increased police presence guarding the shopping district. Same day in the evening the cruise ship leaves port and calm returns to Cartagena.

Cartagena SpainCartagena Spain

We are settling into the Spanish lifestyle, active in the mornings and evenings.

Mid-day it’s hot and humid and all stores, restaurants etc are closed from 14:00h to 17:00h or later.

Yesterday evening we sorted and marked all our ropes plus a glas of local Rose wine.
